Memphis 'N Motion

From the first time I heard Al Green sing "Let's Stay Together," I knew that I'd like the city of Memphis. I've always been charmed by the history, the blues, the ribs, the river and the genteel citizens. So, it seems appropriate that on the Saturday before the biggest feast day of the year, we got several hundred new friends together and put Memphis 'N Motion.

And as you might have guessed if there's a fun fitness party anywhere... GameBike and GamePad are in the middle of it.

Memphis 'N Motion is the brainchild of Bill Baker an executive with Grand Regions Health Plan (Centene Health), Shelby County Commissioner Deidre Malone, Leslie Casey and Sonya Griffith of Sole' Graphics publisher of FUEL for Kids magazine and a wide range of churches, after-school programs, jump rope teams, step dance teams and others who want Memphis kids to get healthier. Building Strong Brains and Bodies

I'm a word guy. If I see a word that I don't know the meaning of, I immediately grab a dictionary or go to Google and find out what it means. Then...I hate to admit this...I show off by using it a few times. I know. I have issues about words. Ah, to Sleep. Perchance to Lose Weight

With apologies to Shakespeare, this week's posting is something that I hold sacred. Sleep. It is the nectar of the god's. If I didn't have this blog due in about 15 minutes, do you know what I'd be doing? That's right Bunkie, I'd be taking a well-deserved, leisurely nap on my handy office couch.

Who doesn't love to sleep?

Kids, that's who.

Happy New Gear!

The holiday season seems to make that recessive shopping gene dominant. Otherwise sane, normal people get that "Oh my gosh, I've forgotten to buy uncle Ferd something and now I'm a terrible person" look on their faces. I believe this is because the media make buying gifts the most important part of the season.

Like you, I read the "Great Ideas for Gifts" columns, which now start to appear in October. But instead of filing them away for my Christmas/Hanukkah buying frenzy, I have decided to focus my rabid consumerism on the season that every physical fitness nut lives for...the New Year. Now, we can all scream in unison...Happy New Gear!!!

If the truth be known, part of the reason I'm doing is this because I write this blog for a company that makes products that are designed for this fitness crowd. Plus, I knew if I waited for all of the other media to file their obligatory "Great Gifts" columns, some of them would have cool fitness products and this would make my researching process MUCH easier.
